Ultrawide Tokina - First Impressions

It's been quite a while since I posted. The reason is: I don't post just anything here. It has to be something special. And boy, oh boy, the Tokina 20-35mm f/2.8 is some true delicacy that you want to know more about. I bought this lens just today for about $200 used. Actually I thought that an ultrawide FX lens, with a fix f/2.8 aperture, for $200 will be some kind of scam. However the ad looked promising, so I called the number... and there I have it! Awesome! At this price point I wasn't expecting anything spectacular, but it turns out that this lens produces a fairly reasonable image. Sure, it has some chromatic aboration and yes, the corners are quite soft (especially at f/2.8), but it still is an ultrawide! The Tokina 20-35mm f/2.8 at 35mm For me, this lens opens up the world of landscape photography as well as real estate photography. Event videography - my experience

I teamed up with KórházSuli back in September, when the 4th KórházSuli Conference took place. I was asked if I'd make a short video of the event, and sure I said yes! But how to make an event video? Here are my thoughts. The first important thing is to know the location. The best thing that can happen is if the event's organized at a place that you already know. In my case that was my school, which made my tasks much easier. If you are not familiar with a location, just go there the day before the event, to have an idea of the space, the lights, etc. Also now you should know what equipment you are going to bring with you. The second task is to shoot at the event. There isn't much to say about that really, you have to make the most out of it. Of course, it helps if you know how to shoot motion picture, but this topic isn't about this type of technical parts. Some advice I can give is to really use your camera, so don't be afraid of high ISO-s, shallow d.o

The first FX body! - a true gamechanger

Well, it's very hard to explain what I feel now. I'm a lucky and proud owner of a D600 - but it hasn't been the case until this week. Very fresh experiences straight from a new FX owner! So, after the day I sold the D3200 with its accessories I already had a meeting, where I was going to see a D600. I was chatting with the seller on Facebook, and I asked her if she had a lens that I could try the camera out with, just to see what kind of image does it produce. My biggest surprise was that she had the exact same lens that I was willing to buy to mount on the new body - and it was for sale too! The camera had about 142.000 expos, which can sound a bit too much at first glance, but I've read several threads on forums, where the users said they're using their D600 far over 300.000 expos without any problems, so I thought that's not a deal-breaker.
